Imogen Freiwald, a 6th grader at LILA, has incredible artistic skills. After seeing some of her drawings, I was impressed. I interviewed her recently, as I was wondering about how her talents came alive.

When did you start drawing?

As long as I remember.

Do you remember what your first ever drawing was?

I remember finger painting as a child.

How did you get into drawing? What motivated you?

My mom just put paint and paper in front of me and then I started fingerpainting.

Is there anyone in your family who is an artist?

Yes. My uncle and my grandma. My uncle draws all the time and my grandma loves pointillism.

How did you learn? Did you take classes?

I tried taking classes, but they didn’t really help. I’m mostly self taught.

I don’t have a favorite artist.

Do you have any tips for aspiring artists?

Practice. 

Why do you want to be an animator?

It’s fun.
